Holmes describes a vacation that he is enjoying, which includes much bicycle riding. He refers to a book by a socialist writer and comments: " ... until you substitute artificial selection for natural by putting to death the inadequate, or get the whole world to limit procreation to the visible means of support, I do not believe you will see socialism successful. Existing society is founded on the death of men."
